Pin Scene Mode
The Pin Scene mode is intended for use with regular solved scenes as a rough coordinate system setup method; it affects the solved camera path on all frames and attached trackers, but not any meshes. It is equivalent to using the Whole button on the 3-D panel with Whole affects meshes turned off.
In Pin Scene mode, FOV, Width, Depth, and Height are all fixed . So you cannot use it to determine the aspect ratio of a box or other primitive object. If you need to, you can do that with a preliminary Pin mesh stage.
Pin Scene causes the entire scene, including the camera path over all frames, to be moved to get the right viewpoint on the mesh. The camera is moved to the proper distance from the mesh to match up with the mesh on that frame.
However, there is insufficient information from one pinned frame to determine the scaling of the trackers: the mesh will match, but the trackers may be much closer or further (still matching on that frame). Other frames won't match unless the scaling is set properly. You can do that by setting up a distance constraint between two trackers, using Phases, or by using the 3-D panel's Scale tool with the Whole button on, the Whole affects meshes menu item off, and the camera selected.
Note that the scaling doesn't matter for tripod shots Pin Scene can be a nice way to position a solved tripod shot in 3-D relative to a known mesh.
