Tools for Rigging
Here we outline where to find various tools used during rigging. Note that we don't provide a redundant version of the documentation of these specific to this manual; for details see the main SynthEyes User Manual as indicated. Many of the GeoH buttons etc have extensive tooltips for quick reference as well.
Note . You may need to set or reset your own custom room and view preferences, possibly by resetting them to the latest factory defaults, in order to include the GeoH versions. Right-click in the room area for the room menu, and use the Viewport Layout Manager (see the main user manual).
Warning : If you open a scene from a SynthEyes version before 1508, the room and viewport configurations will automatically be reset to the factory configurations, in order to include GeoH versions.
GeoH Panel. This is the main panel, as launched by the GeoHTrack button on the main room toolbar at top of the SynthEyes user interface. See Geometric Hierarchy Tracking Control Panel reference in this manual.
Perspective View. The is the main 3D environment for SynthEyes; all GeoH tracking and rigging takes place in this view (unlike normal 2D tracking). See Perspective View Reference in the SynthEyes User Manual.
Hierarchy View. This shows the overall scene hierarchy of cameras, objects, trackers, and meshes, for general use as well as for GeoH tracking. It appears in abbreviated form below the GeoH Panel, or as a view of any size in the content area. See Hierarchy View Recap in this document, or Hierarchy View in the main manual.
GeoH toolbar. This is a regular movable toolbar within the perspective view. It controls lassoing and painting vertices, see Deformation Control Layers and Do Not Track Layer. You can open it using either the GeoH Toolbar button on the GeoH panel, or by right-clicking in the perspective view, then choosing the GeoH toolbar within the Toolbar submenu.
Pinning toolbar. This is a regular movable toolbar within the perspective view. It is used to align meshes with the imagery, while preparing to track (see Initial Alignment). It's also useful in general for set reconstruction. You can open it using either the Pinning Toolbar button on the GeoH panel, or by right-clicking in the perspective view, then choosing the Pinning toolbar within the Toolbar submenu.
Filmbox Importer. You can import an entire pre-rigged skeleton from another application such as Maya using the Filmbox importer. This can save a lot of time, if you can reuse a generic rig. You can use the SynthEyes tools to chop up and adjust the skeleton for the scene at hand. See "Importing Filmbox Files" in the user manual.
Scripts . See the Overview of Imports, Exports, and Scripts for a variety of scripts that can assist rigging.
