Channel

This is a drop-down icon selector button at the top of the GeoH panel. The channel selection is like a set of sunglasses, affecting how SynthEyes views the image. In its default setting image , a gray-scale version of the image is tracked. That is suitable for most cases—it's pretty much what your own eyes do.

The alternate settings are for the individual red, green, and blue image channels, or for all three (RGB). It should be pretty obvious which is which!

You can use one of the specific channels instead of Luma if one or more image channels are particularly noisy (for example for low-light imagery).

You can use the RGB setting for better discrimination if the imagery has colorful detail, but that detail is all at a similar luminance level. (You can verify that using the Luma setting on the Rez tab of the image preprocessor, for example). As you might guess, using the RGB setting basically triples the required compute time.
