3-D Export to After Effects
Planar 3-D trackers can be exported directly to After Effects, creating a 3-D environment in After Effects; you do not have to run the Export Preparation script, or any 3-D solve in SynthEyes. Of course, planar trackers can be exported as part of a solved SynthEyes scene as well, either as planar trackers or as regular trackers. (And you can export a 2-D After Effects scene, as described in the following section.)
In the most common case, you will create and track a 3D planar tracker. After you orient the camera as desired, you can run the After Effects Javascript exporter. The planar tracker will be exported as a moving 3-D placeholder layer with a stationary camera. (For an export where the camera moves, use the Export Preparation script first, as described in the section on it. Similarly, use export preparation if you want to preconfigure imagery for the planar tracker's After Effects layer from inside SynthEyes.)
When you include planar trackers in the After Effects exporter, the exporter examines the camera FOV and sets it to the planar tracker's FOV, if necessary. If there are multiple incompatible planar trackers, an error will be reported and the export will stop. See the section on Adding More 3-D Planar Trackers for more information.
You can replace the placeholder with whatever still image, footage, or composition you want, using usual After Effects functions. You can ALT-drag (Win) or Opt-Drag (Mac) replacement footage into the planar tracker layer. Replacement footage should have the same size as the original shot; due to the details of After Effects operation. If you need to change to images of a different size, put the different-sized footage in a new comp with the same size as the main original shot, then replace the placeholder with the comp.
