After Effects 2-D Single-Tracker Path Procedure
This procedure exports a single tracker path to a null in After Effects. If multiple trackers are selected, they are averaged together to produce a lower-noise version.
1. Select one or more trackers to be exported.
2. Export using the After Effects 2-D Clipboard. You can select either the 2-D tracking data, or the 3-D position of tracker re-projected to 2-D.
3. *Open the text file produced by the export
4. *In the text editor, select all the text, using control-A or command-A.
5. *Copy the text to the clipboard with control-C or command-C.
6. In After Effects, select a layer to receive the path.
7. Go to the first frame of the shot.
8. Paste the path into it with control-V or command-V.
Tip: *The SynthEyes export puts the contents of the file onto the clipboard immediately by itself. As long as you proceed immediately to After Effects, you can immediately paste into the layer, without having to open the exported file. This can save quite a bit of time. You only need to open the file if you come back to it later.
